Olanzapine tablets (Zypine): Packaging change
Viatris advise that there is a change in the packaging of olanzapine tab 2.5 mg, tab 5 mg and tab 10 mg from foil packaging to bottle packs.
Packaging change
Olanzapine tablets have changed from foil packaging to bottle packs. Viatris advises that the bottle pack is intended to have a child-resistant cap. However, initial batches were made and have arrived without a child-resistant cap.
This was reported to Medsafe and will be corrected for future batches.

What's happening?
Viatris is working with its manufacturer on proposed remedial action. In the meantime, Medsafe has not objected to Viatris’ releasing limited amounts of stock without a child resistant cap to ensure patients can continue treatment until new stock arrives.
Pharmac understands that some bottles without child resistant caps have been released to market and further releases are possible before this situation is resolved.
