The Ministry of Health has a web-based tool that displays summary data about prescriptions and dispensings in the community that were funded by the New Zealand Government.

Staff take part in research and support external research

Pharmac engages in a range of research including:

  • clinical trials
  • clinical epidemiology
  • pharmacoepidemiology
  • literature reviews
  • ‘business-as-usual’ budget impact analyses and systematic cost-effectiveness analyses
  • evaluations of patient medicines adherence
  • population health programme evaluations
  • other health services research
  • project evaluations.

Pharmac research has culminated in a number of medical journal articles, other publications and reports.

Health Research Council

Pharmac funds research regularly. The Health Research Council is responsible for administering funding grants.
