Alfamino (Amino acid formula): New recipe
From 1 August 2024, Alfamino infant formula has a new recipe, now with two Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) 2’-FL and LNnT, which are both structurally identical to HMOs found in breastmilk.
What's changing
From 1 August 2024, a new recipe of Alfamino infant formula is available. It has two extra Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) – 2’-Fucosyllactose (2’FL ) and Lacto-N-neotetraose (LNnT). These molecules are structurally identical to those HMOs found in breastmilk
The packaging remains largely the same, the main updates are to the ingredients list and nutrition information panel. (external link)
Moving children to the new recipe
We have sought advice from paediatric immunologists and gastroenterologists about this change. They consider that this new formulation would be suitable for anyone currently using Alfamino.
The supplier recommends changing slowly from one recipe to the next as it may take time to adjust.
Information for pharmacies
The new formulation is listed in the Schedule with a new Pharmacode
