8 October 2021

Dear [name and contact details withheld]

Request for information

Thank you for your request dated 10 September 2021 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) for information relating to the recommendations made by the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Committee (PTAC) at its meeting of 23 & 24 May 2019. You asked:

  • What was the ‘additional evidence’ referred to in paragraph 4.2
  • In supplying the above document or presentation, you may answer my next query; what are recommendations 3.3 to 3.6, 4.3 to 4.6?

I note that your questions relate to the recommendations made by PTAC specifically for the funding application for the meningococcal A, C, Y and W-135 vaccine (meningococcal ACWY conjugate vaccine/meningococcal C conjugated vaccine).Full details of this funding application can be found on our online Application Tracker.(external link)

Additional evidence referenced by PTAC at meeting of 23 & 24 May 2019

As required under the OIA, we are giving notice that we need to extend the time limit for responding to this portion of your request. We have extended the time limit for your request by a further 20 working days, to 8 November 2021

We have extended the time limit for your request as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the requests cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA).

Please note, you have the right by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA to an Ombudsman, to seek an investigation and review of our decision.

Recommendations 3.3 to 3.6 and 4.3 to 4.6 of the Immunisation Subcommittee meeting of March 2019

PTAC accepted the Immunisation Subcommittee’s recommendations 3.3 to 3.6 and 4.3 to 4.6 as noted in the published record of the PTAC meeting of May 2019. These are the same as recommendations 1.2 to 1.5 and 2.2 to 2.5 in the published copy of the record of the Immunisation Subcommittee meeting held on 8 March 2019 [PDF, 219 KB].

The contents of the published meeting record are not necessarily a complete record of the Immunisation Subcommittee meeting. Information that is confidential is not included in published meeting records. This can result in the content numbers changing. The relevant portions of the discussions that contain a recommendation relating to an application or proposal are generally published.

All published copies of the Immunisation Subcommittee meeting records can be found on our website: www.pharmac.govt.nz > About > How we get expert advice > PTAC subcommittees > Immunisation Subcommittee.

We are making our information more freely available, so we now publish selected OIA responses (excluding personal details) on our website. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions about this.

Yours sincerely
