Consultation on a provisional agreement with GlaxoSmithKline for amended terms of listing of lamotrigine (Lamictal) on the Pharmaceutical Schedule

Key aspects of this proposal are as follows:

• Lamotrigine (Lamictal) dispersible tablets would be listed in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following prices and subsidies with effect from 1 July 2007 (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

• Lamictal would be listed in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule with no Special Authority.
• Lamictal tablets dispensed in the community would be subject to a confidential rebate, the effect of which would be to reduce the effective cost of Lamictal tablets to be in line with the price of generic lamotrigine tablets (listed on 1 February 2007).
• Lamictal dispersible tablets would be listed in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 July 2007 at the following prices (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

• A new 200 mg Lamictal tablet may be listed in Sections B and H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at a later date, at the following price and subsidy:
