Pharmac has now completed national contracting for some types of surgical sutures that are purchased by Te Whatu Ora for use in hospitals or in the community across New Zealand.

- Bolsters
- Hemostatic agents
- Non-absorbable - nylon, polybutester, polyproylene, synthetic, silk, stainless steel ranges
- Temporary cardiac pacing wire
- Wound closure tapes

Background
In 2013 PHARMAC made a direct approach to the known suppliers in the New Zealand market. This approach was in the form of a request for a submission to PHARMAC for a listing on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.
