Details about this decision

In 2018 Pharmac issued Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) for:

The RFPs requested proposals for non-exclusive national agreements for listing on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.

Following evaluation of Karl Storz’s responses to each RFP, and consultation on the provisional Agreement with Karl Storz, Pharmac has decided to list Karl Storz’s ranges of endomechanical & electrosurgical products, and obstetrics & gynaecology products in Part III of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 November 2021.

The list of products will be available on PHARMAC’s website from 1 November 2021, in both PDF and Excel formats.

DHBs can continue to choose which endomechanical & electrosurgical products, and obstetrics & gynaecology products they purchase, including those from other suppliers. DHBs that purchase endomechanical & electrosurgical products, and obstetrics & gynaecology products from Karl Storz must do so under the terms and conditions, including pricing, in the Agreement from the listing date.

The Agreement includes terms and conditions for training and education to be provided by Karl Storz on the appropriate use of their medical devices, which is to be provided at times and in formats as agreed with individual DHBs.
