Decision to list medical devices supplied by Ortho Medics Limited

What we’re doing
We are pleased to announce the approval of listing agreements with Ortho Medics Limited (“Ortho Medics”) for the supply of medical devices to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora hospitals in the following category:
In summary this will result in:
- Ortho Medics’ dental and oral health products being listed in Part III of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 April 2023 under a national agreement that all Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora hospitals may purchase under (“Agreement”); and
- Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora hospitals being able to continue to purchase other suppliers’ brands of dental and oral health products as the Agreement is not for sole supply.
Any changes to the original proposal?
This decision was subject to a consultation letter dated 23 January 2024.
No changes have been made to the original proposal as a result of the consultation.

Details about this decision
The RFP was for non-exclusive national agreements for listing on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.
After completing the evaluation processes, and consulting on the provisional agreement with Ortho Medics, Pharmac has decided to list Ortho Medics’ dental and oral health products in Part III of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 April 2024.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora hospitals can continue to choose which dental and oral health products they procure, including those from other suppliers.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora hospitals that procure medical devices in this category from Ortho Medics must ensure they do so under the terms and conditions, including pricing, in the Agreement from 1 April 2024.

All consultation responses received by 14 February 2024 were considered in their entirety in making the decision to list dental and oral health products supplied by Ortho Medics. No significant consultation feedback themes were raised.
