Decision to list medical devices supplied by Single Use Dental Instruments Pty Limited and Defries Industries New Zealand Limited
We are pleased to announce the approval of listing agreements for the supply of medical devices to DHBs.
What we’re doing
We are pleased to announce the approval of a listing agreement with the following suppliers in Part III of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 February 2022:
- Single Use Dental Instruments Pty Ltd (“Single Use Dental Instruments"); and
- Defries Industries New Zealand Limited (“Defries”)
Medical devices are approved for listing in the following categories:
- Dental and oral health products (supplied by Single Use Dental Instruments and Defries); and
- Laboratory equipment and consumables (supplied by Defries).
Any changes to the original proposal?
This decision was subject to a consultation letter dated 17 November 2021.
No changes were made to the original proposal as a result of consultation feedback.

- Mobile Schools
- Clinicians
- Community Dental Clinics
- Orthodontists
- Laboratory managers, scientists, technicians, and other laboratory staff
- Procurement Officers and supply chain personnel

Details about this decision
Pharmac has previously issued Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) for:
The RFPs were for non-exclusive national agreements for listing on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.
Pharmac has been working with suppliers who responded to the RFPs, and proposals were progressed to contract negotiations to seek provisional agreements.
These proposals are the latest to arise from these processes and we expect to consult on further provisional agreements with the suppliers of dental and oral health products and laboratory equipment and consumables in 2022.

All consultation responses received by 7 December 2021 were considered in their entirety in making the listing agreements with Single Use Dental Instruments and Defries.
