Thank you for your request dated 29 April 2022 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) for information relating to Pharmac staff and resources. 

I have provided information in response to your questions below. 

How many FTE staff in total were employed by your organisation as at 31 December 2021?

As at 31 December 2021, Pharmac had 153.75 FTE staff.

What percentage of FTE staff in your organisation were earning a salary of $100,000 or more as at 31 December 2021?

As at 31 December 2021, 62 percent (%) of Pharmac staff were earning a salary of $100,000 or more.

How many FTE staff were employed by your organisation for the COVID-19 Response as at 31 December 2021, if any, and how many of these roles are permanent?

As at 31 December 2021, three permanent staff were employed for the COVID-19 response. 

The workload of our contract management team increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic response. In 2020, the team grew to accommodate the increase in activities related to issues with: 

  • Continuity of supply;
  • Supply chain and logistics, including freight support requests; and
  • Interactions and relationships with other government agencies. 

Three 12-month fixed term roles for Contract Managers were established, two FTE were focused on medicines and one FTE on devices. With no slow-down in the volume of work in these areas after 12 months, these roles were made permanent in 2021.

As of today’s date, how many square meters of office space does your organisation have in total?

Pharmac currently has 2,298sqm of office space.

Was there a Government Relations Team in your organisation as at 31 December 2021, and if so, how many FTE staff work in government relations roles?

Yes, Pharmac has had a Policy and Government Services team for several years. As at 31 December 2021, the team had 1 FTE whose primary role is to coordinate and respond to ministerial correspondence, parliamentary questions, and requests submitted under the Official Information Act 1982. The Manager of the team also spends time reviewing work and providing support to the dedicated staff member.
