REQUEST FOR INFORMATION - STATINS

Thank you for your request dated 29 October 2019 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).  You asked for:

• Is it possible to get data on the prices of statins that Pharmac pays pharmaceutical manufacturers for prescription drugs today?

• Could I get data for 2 or 3 drugs in 2010?

We sent you a response on 7 November 2019 and you clarified your request on 20 November 2019 as wanting to know:

• Is it possible to get the prices paid (without rebates) for 2010?

PHARMAC response

As this information is publicly available your request is declined under section 18(d) of the OIA, however information relating to subsidised manufacturers prices for pharmaceuticals, including statins in 2010, is publicly available on our website https://www.pharmac.govt.nz/tools-resources/pharmaceutical-schedule. Note that this pricing excludes rebates and GST and is ex-manufacturer.

Please note you have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA to an Ombudsman, to seek an investigation and review of our decision.
