Dear [name redacted]

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Thank you for your request dated 24 October 2019 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).  You asked for

the last three year sales of Cefuroxine 1.5G and 750mg injections especially in relation to hospital and retail pharmacy use.

We have interpreted your reference to ‘Cefuroxine’ as meaning ‘Cefuroxime’.

In respect of sales for Cefuroxime for retail pharmacy use, these are publicly available and therefore this part of your request is declined under section 18(d) of the OIA. This information can be found via the Ministry of Health’s data portal(external link). To use the tool, click on the ‘data’ tab in the topline menu, then use the ‘search’ window to insert your search term.

Data on hospital use is provided below. This data is from hospital purchasing data and is for financial year to June 2019. Dollar amounts have been calculated from units dispensed, combined with subsidy values published in the NZ Pharmaceutical Schedule.
