Mucilaginous laxatives with stimulants (Normacol Plus): Discontinuation

Affected product

Due to ongoing difficulties in sourcing the key raw ingredient in Noramcol Plus, Norgine has discontinued these brands globally.

This affects both the 200 g (Pharmacode 275301) and 500 g (Pharmacode 275328) packs.

No further stock is available from the supplier. There may still be some stock in the supply chain. 

If you use Normacol Plus

If you are affected by this discontinuation, you will need to talk to the person who prescribed Normacol Plus for you. There are other funded laxatives(external link) available. A health care provider will be able to suggest the best alternative for you. Pharmac cannot comment on any individual's clinical circumstances. 

Delisting 1 October 2023

Both pack sizes of Normacol Plus were delisted from the Pharmaceutical Schedule on 1 October 2023.
