There are two other hydrocortisone butyrate presentations listed in the Schedule:
- Locoid Lipocream, 0.1% (Pharmacode 521957)
- Locoid, ointment 0.1% (Pharmacode 210382)
Rule 3.4.2 of the Schedule Rules allows dispensers to substitute Locoid Crelo for Locoid Lipocream or Locoid Ointment without needing a new prescription, because the pack size and strength of these alternatives are the same.
Pharmac asks that dispensers make sure people are comfortable with this alternative. If anyone has concerns, we suggest they talk to their prescriber for advice.
