Gluten free pasta: Discontinuation
The supplier, Crombie & Price, are discontinuing the supply of gluten-free pasta at the end of March 2023
About the affected products
Pharmac originally listed gluten free pasta in 1994. At the time, gluten-free products were much less available and significantly more expensive than they are now.

We understand that Crombie & Price has reduced the range of products supplied over time. From 1 April 2023, Crombie & Price will no longer be supplying any pasta.
We understand some stock may remain in the supply chain. Once this is depleted, people will not be able to access subsidised gluten-free pasta. We will look at a delisting date in the future.
Only a small number of people continue to access the partially subsidised gluten-free products. We believe this health need can now be met privately, without significant extra cost to people.
We have written to most of the recent prescribers of gluten free pasta to alert them to this change.
Gluten free products not actively managed
In 2011, Pharmac stopped actively managing gluten-free food in the Pharmaceutical Schedule. This meant that Pharmac no longer considers listing of new products, or making subsidies, or other changes to the existing listings.
